Intro to Decision Trees & Guided Procedures

Decision Trees enable Guided Procedures in Resolve Actions, which are extremely useful to provide a means of troubleshooting when a human decision is required or further input is required. Let’s look at an example, and then we'll peek behind the scenes at how they’re built and configured.

Decision trees are useful as interactive, guided document searches that complement keyword or tag searches. They also support data collection during problem analysis and resolution. Troubleshooting guides are a common example of decision trees. Most importantly, decision trees in Resolve can be combined with runbooks, automations and knowledge.

The automation of certain steps can be embedded in the process, so decision trees provide a means for executing guided procedures. This is useful for when a series of steps requires user decisions as well as input, and it is key to implementing Knowledge Centered Support (KCS) solutions.
